Precautions for avoiding fraudulent transactions

Dear Customers,

We ask you to carefully read the information below on precautions to avoid fraudulent transactions.

How to avoid Phishing Scams

Double check before clicking
Internet fraudsters send out emails which appear to be sent legitimately by banks asking for your personal banking details.
Please be aware that Al Hilal Bank will NEVER send you an e-mail, SMS or call asking you to share confidential information, such as your account number or your Internet Banking username / password or OTP code.

What to do
Be careful with any email that requests urgent personal information or bank details on accounts and cards.
Access Personal Internet Banking by typing https://alhilalonline.kz/ in the address bar of your browser.
Enter information, such as card numbers, only on secure websites that use a secure browsing mechanism (HTTPS) and have a closed lock icon on the status bar.
Ensure you keep your browser updated and that any anti-virus software has the latest security updates.

Do not do
Click on links within the email to access Al Hilal Bank website.
Reply to phishing emails that ask you to respond immediately with lucrative offers.
Assume that an email is authentic, even if it is personalised.
Send personal information to the Al Hilal Bank by email.

(!) Alert us immediately if any fraudulent funds transfer has been carried out or an attempt is detected via short mobile number 2330 or +7 727 233 00 00.

Protect Your Password
Passwords should be your best-kept secrets
Passwords are used to authenticate your identity. A lost or leaked password can result in the misuse of your personal information, bank account information, and social contacts and correspondence.

What to do
Change your passwords regularly
If you suspect that your Internet Banking password has been compromised, change it immediately and report the incident to the Bank.
Disable Auto Complete or Remember Password options in the Internet Browser while accessing Internet Banking systems.
Always close the Internet Browser window once you have logged out of the Internet Banking site.

Do not do
Disclose your PIN or password to anyone else, including Bank staff. (Note: Al Hilal Bank will NEVER ask for these details).
Use your birth date or name as your PIN or password. Internet Passwords should be alpha numeric.
Store passwords on your computer.

(!) Please report any suspected privacy abuses or other related security issues to short mobile number 2330 or +7 727 233 00 00.

Vishing (phone fraud)

Avoid share sensitive information on the phone
Vishing is phone fraud where a criminal claims to be calling from legitimate organisations to verify personal details for official records or to give out rewards.
Nowadays, the most popular scheme is where criminals pretend to be an authority figure, such as a bank security manager. They describe an issue, such as detected suspicious transaction(s) for big amount, to get their target to give up personal information.
The criminals may also fake their caller-identification, making it appear that the call is legitimate.

What to do
Refuse to provide account data or other personal information to caller who asks you to share personal or account information over the phone.
Contact Al Hilal Bank’s Contact Centre on mobile short number 2330 or +7 727 233 00 00 if you have any suspicions.

Do not do
Give out your Card number, Password, CVV2 (the three-digit number on the back of your card), PIN, OTP codes or account information through unsolicited calls.
Respond to a voice mail or calls that ask you to go to a website or call a phone number to resolve an account problem.

Please remember that the Al Hilal Bank will never ask you to share personal or card information such as OTP codes, passwords, PINs and CVV2.

(!) Please report any suspected privacy abuses or other related security issues to short mobile number 2330  or  +7 727 233 00 00.

ATM Security Tips
Follow these simple steps to have a secure ATM transaction.
Although ATMs are convenient and allow fast cash withdrawals, there are different types of ATM fraud, including:
Card Skimming, where criminals install devices on ATMs to obtain the card details and the PIN.
Shoulder Surfing, that involves peeking over your shoulder and recording your PIN as you key it in.
Operational Cash Departments, where criminals approach tourists and direct them to local merchants to use their point of sale device to issue cash. The merchant then skims the card details and uses a fake PIN entry device to obtain the cardholder's PIN. This information is then used to make unlawful cash withdrawals with counterfeit cards.

What to do
Use an ATM alone and shield the keypad with your hand when entering your PIN.
Report jammed or retained cards and those lost at an ATM immediately to the Bank.
Use unique PINs and change them periodically.
Check to ensure that no additional devices are attached to the card reader slot.

Do not do
Disclose your PIN to anyone, whether to a family member or to bank staff.
Accept help from strangers at an ATM.
Write down your PIN in a way that it is easily accessible.
Use numbers like your date of birth or the last four digits of your phone number.
Use an ATM with a blank screen.

(!) Alert us immediately if any fraudulent funds transfer has been carried out or an attempt is detected via short mobile number 2330 or +7 727 233 00 00.

Kind regards,
“Al Hilal” Islamic Bank” JSC
